Dr. P called in 100 mg of it (up from 50, which I am weirdly pleased about). The way Clomid works is, you take it for 5 days in your cycle (either from day 3 through day 7 or from day 5 through day 9 – day 1 is the first day of your period, btw). Then you do your best to errrm, well, you know. Bow-chicka-boom-boom.

Anyway. Seven days from the day you ovulate, you give a big scary vial of blood and they figure out how much progesterone you have this cycle (the higher the #, the better your chances were – talk about 20/20 wisdom!). The funny thing to me is that Dr. P is really picky about just assuming that I ovulate on day 14 and, while it’s a good average, it’s not a definite for most women. I tried telling his nurse that I tend to ovulate earlier than that and it pretty much blew her mind. So, Day 21 it is!

Today is that day. Typically I see Dr. P after giving blood but he couldn’t fit me in so I am seeing him Friday. (Tomorrow and Thursday are payroll days so who the hell has time for obstetrics or gynecology? There is minimum wage to obsess over!)

So, if today is Day 21, then next week is Day 28, the traditional ending of the cycle. And maybe I’ll have good news. (D and I were comparing period notes today and I told her that I have somewhere between 1 and 40+ weeks to go).

(Cue crazy part of this post)…

Dear My Body: Pleeeeeeease let this be my month. I know that I’m pretty much the poster child for Best Laid Plans screwing me, but really. I’ll be with my entire family in July and I would REALLY like something awesome to tell them even if it’s before 12 weeks. So, how about it?

So, as I mentioned, we are trying another cycle of Clomid.
