So, I guess if it could happen to Nobu<\/a>, the famous sushi restaurant partly owned by Robert DeNiro, it could happen to anyone. I would LOVE to talk to the payroll clerk there – were they paying server OT at 1.5 times server minimum ($2.13 times 1.5 = $3.20) instead of the correct calculation (that I can’t remember right now, which is why I make Excel do the math for me when I need the answer, which is $5.40)? Did they forget to adjust when minimum wage went up? Where I work, sometimes we ask ourselves “How would Outback or Olive Garden handle this?”, so I have to admit that hearing that a super swanky restaurant chain has the same issue makes me feel good. (Dear Nobu’s payroll clerk: It’s okay, little buddy – just remember this: the IRS doesn’t give a shit about missing W-2s for another two weeks, AND if you go to the IRS’s website you can file an extension for the allocated tip report so you can put that off a little while).<\/p>\n

I know, I’m such a payroll geek sometimes. A kid I went to high school with (and now am “Friends” with on Facebook) is a manager at a restaurant in Indiana and I am so curious about how that chain does their payroll.<\/p>\n

And in better news, the fucking W-2s are really for sure definitely leaving on Monday. I worked from 11:30-3:30 finishing sorting them. Now all I have to do is try to make sure that people aren’t getting multiple W-2s for no good reason and that people aren’t getting zero W-2s for also no good reason.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
