So my friend Julie\u00a0and I\u00a0have hatched a brilliant scheme for a business: registering for baby stuff for busy expectant mothers. We could do the whole darn thing; interview the parents about their likes (do they like hip stuff? country stuff? cheap stuff?), register at wherever for them (probably BRU and Target, but frankly there are great options out there elsewhere, such as www.babyage.com<\/a>), and even handle shower invitations. How fun! We hatched this scheme when I revealed to her that I have already registered (on www.babyage.com<\/a> – and NO, it’s not searchable). Yes, I told the truth about due date (April 2008?). As I mentioned earlier, my SIL has not yet registered for baby stuff and it’s making my MIL and I dotty. We. Cannot. Wait. To. Buy. Baby. Stuff. I almost went to Target at lunch yesterday to browse for stuff. And I made a list of cool baby toiletries on Walgreens.com.<\/p>\n

Gene and I visited a financial planner yesterday. Hilarity ensued. I think we’re supposed to meet with her again soon and then on an annual basis. Financial planning is expensive, but we like this lady (affiliated with American Express) because, unlike the financial planner at the bank, she’s not just trying to peddle stuff she gets commission on. We basically need someone to be our Mommy about finances and say “No, Gene, you can’t buy an Acura RS” and so on.<\/p>\n

After that super fun appointment, I took Gene to the airport to pick up his rental car. He actually did OK with those brainy folks at National. I’m glad. And now he’s gone to Washington DC but will be back Friday to pick me up at noon so we can go to the concert in Knoxville. Fun, fun.<\/p>\n
