Friday night Gene and I had dinner with our friends Ross and Liz. A good time was had by all. The restaurant was in the city (we live in a suburb of said city) and as we hit the highway to go back home I looked lustfully at one of the city’s luxury hotels and said “We should have gotten a room”. Gene shoves his cellphone at me and the next thing you know we’re checking into a hotel known for the quality of its beds. Just heavenly.

Sooo, we check out about 8:30 Saturday morning and make our way back home to pick up the dogs at the vet’s office. We left their leashes in our other car so we used the slipknot kind the vets office provides. Back at the house we let the dogs out of the car…but one of the leashes had slipped off in the car (surely any reasonable pet owner wouldn’t have let this happen) and of course it was our really really agile dog. He takes off running across the common area in our cul-de-sac and I take off after him. Keep in mind that when we checked into the hotel we didn’t bring anything with us (like, dunno, TENNIS SHOES) so I was still dressed for dinner the previous night. I didn’t know I could run in heels. I had the dog on her leash with me and when I finally catch up to Scooby, Betty takes off across the street (luckily it’s one of those streets in a subdivision, not like a major highway or something) to go see another dog. Luckily, the sainted man walking this other dog gets Betty by the leash thing. All is saved. The dogs are safe and I will never, ever, ever use those pseudo-leash things the vets provide. If this had happened outside the vet’s office we would not have had a happy ending.

Anyway 🙂 We get inside the house and I leave a bit later for a haircut. When I pull into the parking lot at my salon I see this band of women walking from the hotel next door. They’re all wearing button down shirts. We all know what that means…wedding party! It was everything I hate about tupperware parties and the sorority, all rolled into one. I love my new haircut, but it was really just a trim (well, a really long trim. What’s up with a trim being a half inch or something?) and not worth the money. I am seriously considering just going to Hair Cuttery from now on and going to the good salon if it’s for color.

After this, Gene, Scooby and I go to Petsmart for week 7 of our obedience training class. Next week is the final test and graduation. If Scooby passes he gets to wear a graduation cap and we take pictures. Note to self, buy camera. (disposable – I take about 4 pictures a year and it’s not worth it otherwise).

That takes us up to when I opened my shiny new blog and started posting. Gene’s still at poker and I have cleaned two bathrooms, vacuumed our bedroom, the living room, the dining room and the kitchen (I love the bare floor setting – so cool). Oh, and washed the fifty pounds of dog hair off our bedsheets. Oh, hey. The bed is still unmade. Hmmm.

Today (technically yesterday since it’s now 12:05 AM on Sunday morning) was a big day.
