She’s on vacation at her parents house and checked my blog via dialup. DIALUP, folks. Wow. So, if she reads again, HIIIIIIIII!!!!<\/p>\n
Anyway, so D’s on vacation and I’m filling in for my employer’s administrative assistant. D and I refer to her as Saint A. I’m marooned over on the operations side of the building – within spitting distance of My Former Office. I spend a lot of time walking between Saint A’s desk and my regular one because I can’t access voice mail, email or our crappy Payroll program via Saint A’s desk. Our PITA geek guy strikes again. Oh, yeah, he’s on vacation too. Ugh.<\/p>\n
It’s really like my usual job in Payroll. I’m either “let’s count the number of holes in the Muzak speaker” bored or “Jesus christ, I’m a busy bitch” busy. Today at 4 PM the owner’s son (in his 40s) calls so I’ll make a FedEx and to give me some addresses so I can send some dorky golf pictures to the others in his foursome. He asks, “Do you have the pictures in front of you?”<\/p>\n
I am simultaneously talking to him, making FedEx labels and posting paychecks. I’m at my desk. The pictures are on Saint A’s desk and, for the freaking record, go in the mail TOMORROW, not TODAY anyway. “Actually, I’m at my desk” I reply. “I’m cutting some checks for payroll”.<\/p>\n
I then spend two very valuable minutes explaining to him that No, the pictures are in another room but I’m going to write the addresses on a legal pad so I don’t need the pictures. “Ummm, could you go get the pictures anyway?”<\/p>\n
Yeahh. Mr. “Getting the Ultimate 4o1(k) match when the old man kicks off” is used to getting his own way, so I put the dumbass on hold and go move to Saint A’s desk. (Well, not before calling him a choice name behind his back) and write down the addresses on the stupid post it notes with the guys names on them (supplied by this guy).<\/p>\n
