I PVR (Tivo, basically) a lot of movies that I think sound good. One of them was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/title\/tt0366920\/\">Pride &amp; Prejudice<\/a>\u00a0(no, not the smokin&#8217; version with Colin Firth). It was a modern day adaptation, all bright colors and modern updates. It came on one night at 2 in the morning (I think one day while I was ill) and I thought &#8220;I&#8217;m about to fall asleep again but this looks cute&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>But now that I&#8217;m watching it, it has a funny edge to it, like something&#8217;s not right. Ah, a student film, I decided. Someone&#8217;s directorial debut, acted by all of his buddies from film school! I was coasting along, happy as a clam, folding laundry (hmm, WTF is that all about?) when the main character says something that perks my ears up and, simultaneously worries me.<\/p>\n<p>Main character: &#8220;No, he&#8217;s a boy from here in Utah&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hmmmmmmm. Uh-thefuck-oh. All of a sudden, the film acquires that &#8220;something doesn&#8217;t taste right about this cheesecake&#8221; flavor, like when the culinarian at work tricked us with free Atkins-designed desserts. Awww. Snaked again, naturally.
