SO…
We are outsourcing payroll again starting in October. The time between now and then is going to be chock full of stuff to do and it will be craaaazy but I am looking so forward to this change. It’ll really make my work like a lot easier and it will save me tons of work time.
The project I mentioned earlier in the year about paying back wages from January ’07 through now is about 80% complete. The checks (1,000+ of them) are printed and in Gwen’s office waiting for me to have the time to get them distributed. The total payout was over $25,000 before taxes. Of all the things I do at work – child support, insurance, fill out forms so yet another employee can get food stamps or something – the most important thing I do is pay people correctly and for the last 18 months I guess I failed at that. The entire thing makes me sick (literally – I left work early Tuesday with a massive headache). I will be glad when the checks are all gone, but I also suspect that it’ll take just one employee calling the Department of Labor to start it all over again.
On the bright side, I have a great boss. I only ever miss working for Stefania when I’m busy as fuck and she and Toady are mindlessly yammering about crap. But really, the support of a good boss is priceless. I should tell her that.
