We are here in Kuala Lumpur now. Our flight from Frankfurt arrived at 6:30 AM local time (KL is exactly 12 hours ahead of Cheesecake City) and we were at the hotel by quarter til 8. This city is so neat (so far – all I have seen is the airport, the inside of a car and the hotel room).
Mom: I can see the Petronas Towers from our hotel room. I have taken pictures (from the window!) and I will post them one day this week while Gene is off working like a sucker.
So, here is what I have learned about international travel. The difference between flying to Indianapolis and flying to Germany and then Malaysia is that you are on the plane about 10,000 more hours. And, no matter how big the plane is, the seats are too small and you will literally do anything just to get off the damn plane. But on the bright side there are lots of ways to keep yourself amused when you’re on a plane that long – I watched the movies “21”, “Get Smart” and “The Promotion” as well as episodes of various TV shows that I do not ordinarily watch. On the way home I may watch all of the first season of Ugly Betty, although I don’t know why.
In conclusion, we’re here, the city smells wonderful and I’m getting my first Malaysia massage at noon. We are trying to get acclimated to the 12 hour time difference. I took my crazy pill a few hours ago and that will probably help (especially after apparently missing a day).
