(that’s the catchprase for a Malaysian tourism campaign, so I have been treated to seeing it and hearing it a trillion times since…well, technically we were still in the air the first time I heard it).
(So yeah, definitely the real Asia – I can’t get real bacon to save my soul).
(And I’m rapidly losing the Elaine vs. Real Bacon battle royale).
What else is going on:
Can’t get into GMail. May possibly lose my shit soon. I’m paying a fortune for a week of internet access here and can barely use it. AUGGGH.
Watching the election results. When Gene left the room at 9 this morning (which is something like 8 PM in Cheesecake City), it was looking like an Obama landslide. He said, “Congratulate your mom for me!” but I reminded him that there are a LOT of flyover states in between the east coast and California. The only news channel I get in the hotel room is BBC so I’m listening to it as I type. Turns out the British don’t like Americans either.
Apparently the guys responsible for a nightclub bombing in Indonesia in 2002-ish are being executed sometime in the next few days (or may have been executed already). And the news – at least the newsfeed from the Malaysia Air – suggests that there may be….oh, let’s say retailiation in there somewhere. I’ll let someone with a better internet connection figure out how close KL is to Bali. Yikes.
Anyway. I spent most of yesterday over at Petronas Towers yesterday (left before Gene, got back to the room at 2:30 after eating a stellar lunch of Thai food and receiving a fancy foot massage) and by the time I got back to the room the daily rainstorm started so I didn’t get to sit by the pool and read like I had on Monday, so I am going to stick around the hotel and read and stay hydrated today. Tomorrow maybe I’ll get a ticket on the Kuala Lumpur “Hop On Hop Off” bus around town. I have successfully located a fish pedicure place but that is on the list for next week. Maybe.
More later.
