Long time, no ‘blog…

Posted on December 18, 2004 by laineyd

First, let me say congrats to DS and LS, especially LS.

Next — today, we went to Gene’s hometown to pick up the boy for the weekend. Somehow, we still came home just the two of us. It’s going to snow there and Blanche (MIL) strong-armed us into letting her keep the boy ‘just in case.’ Hmm. Maybe I have a bumpy ride, too.

Heartattack moment of the day yesterday: yard guys come over to mow. Dogs are outside in the back yard. Everybody’s OK. Scooby somehow defied his natural urge to run when given the chance and was found in a sunny spot in the back yard, just enjoying the beautiful December day.

Speaking of beautiful December days: No longer wearing t-shirts. Now I have to wear sweaters or sweatshirts or at least long sleeved shirts over said t-shirts. Bahhh. I’m also wearing the awesome coat from two winters ago. I don’t think it’s going to IN because I tend to not button the awesome coat (and frankly…it’s not that kind of coat anyway, kwim?) and IN will be effing cold in…
11 days. Yippee!

BIL and SIL will be here (in the state, at Blanche’s) on the 22nd. We don’t get the boy until the 25th. I desperately hope that none of them leave Blanche’s until then. I don’t want any extra people underfoot. I like time alone with the husband and the beagles.

Speaking of the beagles: Since we didn’t get to pick the boy up (we had an awesome lunch with him, though..mmm!) we stopped off at Pet Supplies Plus. I’ve never been here before but Gene said it was a good store for pet food.

Hooooly Sheeet, man! They had EVERYTHING (except Eagle Pack, the food we feed Betty…). We went in for some puppy food and “some treats” (can’t come home empty handed!) and walked out $100 poorer, but richer with 2 kinds of puppy food, 2 more kinds of adult food, 3-4 cans of wet food and treats out the yin-yang. When we first walked towards the dog food, I immediately realized the immensity of the selection and also that they carried “Solid Gold Hund-en-flocken”, which I think translates to “Solid Gold Hound in flakes.” Supposedly the dog food is made of flakes. I wish the hounds had been there — it’s like PetsMart because they allow dogs. We met a German Shepherd named Echo. She kept ‘sampling’ all the best dog treats. A princess just like me!

Time to let the dogs in (whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo)!
