So, I am sitting here reading emails and the word “Antithesis” is in one of them. Why do we pronounce thesis “theeeesus” but antithesis is this jumble of syllables “antithusus”? Seriously. Say “antithesis”. Doesn’t it feel like it’s the word that never ends (yes it goes on and on my friends, some people started saying it not knowing what it was but it’ll keep on going on forever just because*)?
But why don’t we pronounce antithesis “anti-theeesus”?
* You’re welcome, toddler mothers. And Macauley/Bill.
