So many NFL players are obese? Hmm. If ATHLETES are obese now, what hope is there for me?
Currently, I have the IPod set to play all 555 songs I have on it in alphabetical order. What that means is that if I have several versions of a song, I hear them all…in…a…row. When I loaded the IPod last time, I noticed I had a lot of versions of Leonard Cohen’s “Bird on a Wire”. Turns out there are FIVE. That is a lot of birds on a lot of wires, believe me. They were the version by Fairport Convention (folk group from the ’70s), the version by Leonard (circa 1968), the version by Jennifer Warnes (on her tribute album ‘Famous Blue Raincoat’ from the extremely early ’90s), the version by Willie Nelson (from the Cohen tribute album, ‘Tower of Song’ from the mid ’90s) and the version by some European pop group (from the far better Cohen tribute album, ‘I’m Your Fan’, circa the early ’90s. This album is also home to the version of Hallelujah we all heard during the movie Shrek).
Yes, I’m a total geek, but I like listening to music in some arbitrary order. If I could sort the songs by length, I would.
Not a bad day today at the office. Had lunch with D today. We don’t do that very often anymore. We’re both busy and anti-social, sometimes even with each other. Sometimes, the best prescription for a crappy day is to go through a drive-thru for a #6 combo (doesn’t really matter which restaurant) and then driving to an empty parking lot (maybe the far corner at Target). It’s quiet, it’s got food, and if you have a book with you, you have something to take your mind off the insanity back at the ranch.
