Okay, this is more for my reference than anything else, but here is the planned menu for Thanksgiving 2010:
Appetizers:
White Bean Dip with Pine Nuts (w/ pita)
Cream Cheese, Sausage & Rotel Dip (probably w/ tortilla chips)
Nuts & Bolts (baked Chex mix, family favorite, using Blanche’s recipe)
Entree:
Rib Roast with Garlic and Blue Cheese
Side Dishes:
Mashed Potatoes (no recipe, I know how to make those without one as I am super fancy)
Pasta Salad (leftover from work pitch in on day before Thanksgiving)
Yeast rolls (heat n’ serve)
Dessert:
Apple Pie (I, yes *I* will be making this pie. I made one already a few weeks ago and it was delicious and we both lived. Wooo!)
Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars (why bars instead of cookies? Because I am lazy! And have to work all day the day before Thanksgiving!)
If you’re wondering, these recipes use a combined 75 pounds of butter and a tractor trailer of sugar.
PS: The menu for the week of Thanksgiving will go something like this:
Monday: Chili dogs, maybe. I have a helper elf that day so maybe I won’t dirty up the kitchen.
Tuesday: Grilled cheese, maybe. That’s the day the sofa arrives and the carpets get cleaned. And I have to make pasta salad if Gene hasn’t done it already.
Wednesday: Inlaws arrive, we are ordering pizza from Donatos. Yum. Much better than Pizza Hut.
PPS: I cannot tell you how much I wish I had next Wednesday off to get stuff done.
PPPS: The grocery list is two pages long!
My my …..domestication reigns! It looks absolutely scrumptious! It is very tempting to abandon the standard fare after looking at this! Sleeping much the night before? LOL!
