Something I told The Almighty D (which reminds me…) the other day while we were IMing:
Me: How’s your day going?
D: Same stuff, different day
Me: At New Company, the version of that is, “New stuff, every day, where’s the alcohol?”
Seriously. It is cuh-ray-zee there, every day. I left yesterday at 7:20, narrowly missing the cut off to have New Company buy dinner for me (it was tempting, but I’m glad I was home in time for meat loaf and Betty Crocker boxed cheesy julienne potatoes*). It was my first 10 hour day at the new job, complete with a zero minute lunch hour (Mrs. Bossman shoved a “leftover” chicken wrap at me at 4 o’clock – mmmm, tortilla). Lazy Elaine was NOT meant for 10 hour days!
This year end stuff is no joke. Today I took at least 30 calls (I forgot to note the final tally before logging out today at 6:01), ending the day with the sad tale of the Client Who Moved So UPS Could Not Deliver the Company’s Paychecks. Sooooo glad I wasn’t responsible for that mistake!
All of this leaves me with just enough energy to go home, eat dinner, geek a little, watch a little TV and pass out as soon as is feasible. So, blogging isn’t a big priority right now (I started the Year in Review post back in November), but the Year End ends sooner or later, right?
And, please let me remind you that I Love My Job. I am happier than I have been in years.
