I was driving to work yesterday when the Tori Amos version of Leonard Cohen’s Famous Blue Raincoat came on the iPod. Yuck. Those who know me often know I dislike her, but hearing her butchering of the song is just annoying. She uses the intake of air as another instrument and she’s just…too…fucking…precious.
Thanks for letting me get that out. Did I ever tell you about the boy I dated at BSU who sang Tori’s song “Me and a Gun” (or was it “Me and a Man”?) to me? He was also fucking precious and a total dimwit. I only dated men who weren’t Gene for 3.5 semesters of college and I really racked up some dunderheads. Gene’s the best of the bunch both at college and here in the real world.
Speaking of The Man, he’s out of town now and will return late Friday. So you know what that means…time for (da-da-DUMMM) “What I Plan To Do While Gene is Gone”
1) Watch The Door in the Floor, a movie based on a portion of John Irving’s novel “A Widow for One Year”. I really enjoyed the book and I’m hoping that Kim Basinger doesn’t fuck it up too much.
2) Read Atlas Shrugged. I’m on page 200-something. Yippee.
3) Possibly clean the fridge (one of the “special tasks” on my chore list). Technically both today and tomorrow are “off” days, where I don’t have to do any chores. I likee that plan!
4) Watch all the crap from the Travel Channel I have set the PVR to record. New episodes of Passport to Europe with Samantha Brown. Hooray! (Click here to check out clips from her other show, Great Hotels — please watch the Honeymoon Suite clip. It was hilarious!)
5) Sleep! I have to get up early tomorrow to get the dogs to Barkin Buddies (For real this time, heh heh) so sleep is verrry important!!
