Sorry for the lack of new posts, Blogger was having issues. I get what I pay for (Blog is free).
The last two days have been very good. Friday, I worked all day, picked up two eager beagles and came home to neaten up the house and relax a bit. The chore list had the home offices slated for cleaning. Dum-dum-dummmm… hey, D! You know how I hate to file at work? Well, it’s WORSE at home. I had credit card statements, vet bills and other assorted stuff in my filing in-box from the past 6-9 months. Hey! I will file when I am damn good and ready! and, clearly, not a moment sooner than that! File box was just about totally empty when I finished. My back was sore, my knees were killing me and the dogs were soooo bored. Couldn’t sit on Mommy’s lap, couldn’t sit on those warm stacks of bright paper without hearing “Booper! MOVE!”
The chore list for Friday has “filing” listed when I clean the two home offices so I guess I’ll be handling that awful chore every 2 weeks from now on. Besides that, I vacuumed Gene’s office as well as mine. I usually only do mine because Gene’s is…well, it’s a sty. But, he was gone for two whole nights so the mess abated a tad and I was able to make it cleanable. And when I say “Cleanable” I mean, the floor. The other horizontal surfaces are his problem. I’m not going to run the risk of accidentally throwing away cheat codes to “Zombie Death II” for the PC, the Advanced Gamers gamebook, or passcodes for whatever “The Bridge” is. (“The bridge” is what they call the conference phone line for whenever there’s a problem on Gene’s team at work. I’m not sure, but I am willing to wager it’s called “The bridge” because that’s where all the Star Trek people tended to congregate, too).
Gene makes it home around 10:30. Hooray! Scooby sounded the alarm and we were all waiting expectantly in the back hallway. I am so damn glad he’s home. I know I talk an enormous amount of shit about my husband, but I miss him terribly when he’s not around for days at a time. (I mean, really. He’d have to be gone a full week and I’d have to not have a day job in order to get anything really done, so what’s the point of two nights??). Oh, and after a little hello and cuddle, Gene has to go call his friends Cpt. Picard and Data and get on The Bridge (“Is there a bridge set up?” Yes, and it’s over troubled waters…)
Today we were supposed to go to Babies R Us and return Pack n’ Play #1 (#2 has shipped to Melissa directly and so help me I will visit the many plagues of Europe upon BRU if they back order the damn thing and she ends up Pack-less n’ Play-less) and go to Olive Garden. Somebody didn’t really get moving until late so we returned the P’n’P and go to another Italian restaurant because getting in at OG on a Saturday at NOON is impossible. Mmm, wine flight. Yummm.
After we got back home I worked on today’s chores and vacuumed the dining room and living room and later on I vacuumed the kitchen. I’m going to skip mopping. I am so bad ass. I also got to use “Fanny” the giant purple ceiling fan duster in the living room. The fan in there was gross and dusty. Before I started this post I cleaned off my home desk and wiped it down. I think that completed a Special Project. Go Me. Yeah, the fridge is a CDC site but my desk is free of soda rings from the 10,000 fountain drinks that have been enjoyed sitting in front of it.
I left awhile ago to handle two tasks: 1) Buy shoes and 2) Buy two patio chairs so we can be comfortable while watching the dogs frolic in the back yard (their safety is extremely important as there was a dog-napping in the town I work in). The shoe thing was a bust nearly from the start (what a shock) but the patio thing ended in a draw. Target was hopeless (just the way I like my big-box stores to be) but Lowes had many cool options. Gene doesn’t want to get crappy chairs but there were a million choices at Lowes and since he’s a big guy, I want to get chairs he’ll be comfortable in. So I took a catalog and will show him tomorrow.
Lastly, I AIM’d with Julie and Sploofused and wrote a little (a VERY little – 15 lines, most of which is total crap).
