Sunday night I slept like the dead, for perhaps 8+ hours. Yippee, that’s a vacation!! (Or, as I think I previously mentioned, Ayn Rand is a hell of a sleeping pill).
Monday, Michelle and I got the pictures from Bill’s graduation developed. Then Mom and I stopped at Grandma’s long enough to give her a set of prints and a graduation program. Then I had dinner with Tracy (aka The Hooch). We’ve been friends since she rushed me into Tri Delta at BSU. We roomed together my sophomore year (her junior year) and we had the best time, singing along to ’80s music and forming the legend of the Hooch Religion. She has since discovered (I’m not sure of the right word) real religion, which is probably better for her anyway. We indoctrinated a girl in the dorms into the Hooch Religion, but she could only be a Hooch Deacon because she was saving herself for marriage (the Hooch Religion was the first religion where having had premarital sex was a plus). Oh, wow, that whole thing still makes me laugh.
We also worked up the characters Marge and Stella, two old ladies who smoked Camel unfiltereds and were obsessed with calling each other idiots. There was also something about Stella with Marge’s father in the toolshed. Whenever Gene saw Tracy and I slip into the Marge and Stella characters (complete with fake smoking) he’d act like his ears were bleeding and then he’d flee. Smart man!
The two of us were also very interested in Judaism, mostly because I’d previously dated a boy who was a Conservative Jew. I actually got T a Passover card that said “Bottom line, don’t mess with the Jews”.
Anyway, the two reformed Hooches – now old married ladies – met at Ruby Tuesday’s. I don’t know if T still reads the blog but first, let me say, DAMN! That’s a heck of a ring that Ed got her. Tracy married her long time boyfriend Ed last November. I got to see the wedding video – she looked like someone playing the Queen of the Gods, so majestic.
Soon after, Ed was called up. He’s in the Guard. He was in Mississippi but now he’s in California but will soon go over to “the big sandbox” for a year.
Ooh, brief aside: there is a SPIDER IN MY OFFICE! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!! Be right back…
Back…
Just figured out what Betty’s good for. She was sleeping next to me and I said “Betty! Kill that spider!” I don’t think it’s dead yet, but she’s pretty dogged (ha ha).
Anyway, dinner with Tracy. We spent at least half an hour catching up before we’d even let the waitress get our order. Then after dinner we sat at least another 15 minutes even after we’d paid the bill.
Breaking News: Spider still lives, but Betty’s on the job. Go Booper!
Then after dinner we went to Tracy’s and watched Anchorman. Will Farrell’s not bad but he’s no Adam Sandler. I had such a good time! I love getting together with my friends and I was especially glad to see Tracy because we missed seeing each other when I visited in December/January.
