Very sleepy beagles…

Posted on May 20, 2005 by laineyd

Gene’s home…yeaaa!! Missed him. I picked up the dogs from day care and they’ve basically slept ever since. Good dogs – that’s the point of doggie daycare. They play their asses off and the adults can get something done at night.

In my case, that “something” is “nothing”. Lazy Elaine! I’ve spent the evening Sploofusing to try and make a stab at getting into the Top Ten for my level. Just another 3,000 points…oh, what a weirdo. And to think I give Gene crap for D&D (actually, I don’t).

So Tuesday I came home from work and the garbage can and recycle bin had been put back (or, at least, they were off the cul-de-sac). When I went out to throw some soda cans in the bin and take some trash out, I couldn’t find the recycle bin, but when I went to take the garbage out, I found the recycle bin (if that makes sense). Hmm, I thought. I guess Gene wants to keep the cans outside now. OK, I think. A little later, I thank Gene for bringing in the trash cans off the street. He looks at me strangely. “I didn’t bring them in.”

And then I figure it out…DUH. The crazy next door neighbor took it upon herself to bring them in. Now, I admit it, they’d been out there an extra day and it was a little embarassing. But, Geez lady. They’re selling their house and I guess it just didn’t fit in with what they’re hoping to sell. They’ve also nagged us incessantly about fixing two crooked shingles on our roof. “My husband will fix it for free!!” she said. “You can see it from the road!!” “We don’t want people to think the houses are poorly built.”

Ahh. I wish we still had the Taurus, I told Gene. I’d love to put it on blocks just to piss her off. Ha ha ha….

The funny part: I told her, fine, your husband can come over while we’re out of town. And he still hasn’t….

In other news:
1) Wes is fine. Yea! I have seen a picture and hopefully I’ll see more if my MIL took any while she was in OH
2) Grandma’s fine. I haven’t spoken with her since I left IN. Someone is staying with her all night. I think Mom’s on weekend duty. I’d love to call but I’m scared I’ll disturb Grandma. It’s strange how everything seems to have ramped up just in the last few weeks. I wish I could figure out a way to take care of her for awhile and still keep my job. Then again, one of the girls in accounting is visiting her home country for 6 weeks soon and they’re holding her job for her. Way to set a precedent, morons.
3) Vent about co-worker mentioned in #2 – she’s supposedly going to work from “home” while she’s out (just for a few days), despite being 5000 miles away and several time zones away. Additionally, we’re going to pay out her vacation in dribs and drabs to cover her insurance or something. She can’t take any vacation before she leaves, but she has two little girls so when they get sick, she takes off and is supposedly going to work weekends or something, but I just can’t imagine it. The rumor was they let her work from home (that is, here, not her home country) when she was on her completely illegal and totally ridiculous leave of absence after having her baby 1 1/2 years ago. (She hadn’t been a full time employee for 12 months, so FMLA didn’t apply). The company’s afraid of her, frankly, because she’s a … what’s it called? protected class? (She’s non-Christian and a woman).
4) Hmm. I’m a non-Christian woman. I’m going to put in for my leave of absence Monday. They can’t deny me, right? They’re the limpdicks who set this precedent and don’t have the balls to do the right thing.
5) Just finished reading “The Ivy Chronicles”, from the library. Still in a bid to put off Atlas, just haven’t had the energy for it. Ivy Chronicles…ehhh.
6) Betty tore a hole as big as she is in our comforter. Siiigh. Freaking dog.
