The boy and Gene showed up around dinnertime on Thursday. Hooray!!
Good news: No surgery on the boy’s knees next week.
Bad news: Possible hip surgery on the boy’s hips sometime in the future. Ugh. The recovery period is 6 weeks on crutches. What a mess. He’s going for a second (third?) opinion as soon as possible. I don’t know a lot more, but I will post more when I know.
Today has been a good day. The three of us went to Bucca di Beppo for linner and I ran through the mall in search of a good duvet cover. No luck, only blisters from my sandals. I tell you, next summer I’m just going to buy a pair of Tevas. They are ugly as sin but they fit snugly, which is my issue with my cute sandals.
Earlier I sat in the swing on the back patio and finished reading Misadventures in the 213, a humorous book about a screenwriter trying to make it in LA. It wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read about the topic, but I’m having trouble naming any very good ones. I read the first two chapters of The Girlfriend Curse by Valerie Frankel and I think I’m just going to return it to the library because it’s not very good. Luckily, I still have The Ship and the Storm, about the sinking of the Windjammer sailboat The Fantome. I’m only a few chapters into it and it’s interesting, but it’s….non fiction. Blehh. It really takes a lot of time to get me into a non fiction book. It’s all soo….real. Of course, I’m still trudging through Atlas, but if that’s the only fiction counterpart I have going right now, it’s just not doing it for me. Maybe I’ll re read Ain’t She Sweet. What a good book. And what a hottie main guy character. Yummm. I hope it becomes a movie someday! (Then again, what was the author thinking, naming the character Colin? Maybe she and I are kindred spirits).
Then again, how many hot British names can you suggest? Nigel is just not very “that thud you heard was the sound of my panties hitting the ground.”
Hmm. TMI?
Had a GREAT day at work yesterday. Yes, you heard me. GREAT. Never mind that the 3 checks I cut yesterday were all my fault. Why was yesterday great? No, a freight engine did not run over the temp, sadly. But she was gone yesterday (she’s out of the office all Fridays for some reason). And so was my boss. And so was the A/R clerk who used to be a stripper. (Not as cool as you’d think). So it was just the A/P clerk and I. We had such a good time trashing the others for their stupid idiosyncracies. It was so gratifying to know that she and I are alike.
OTOH, she is moving to another department in the next few weeks and we’re hiring the temp. Maybe it’s just the position I’m sitting in but I originally wrote “and we’re HITTING the temp”.
Woops.
LOL! I can’t wait to hear some of that! By the way, this is loyalty….I’m reading from dial up!–>
