Another week down. Today, I did what I think is my final task for employee appreciate day 2004. Each restaurant drew the names of their guests (from comment cards) for $20 gift certificates to the restaurant. It was my task (actually, one of the 18 tasks) to compile the addresses and mail out a letter and the gift certificate. I am proud to write that they all went out in today’s mail. (Technically, I took the last 20 or so to the post office myself so they may not start their journey until tomorrow or Monday). Next week I should get the necessary information for our drug testing program at work and I’ll get back to wrapping my arms around that. This assumes that the drug testing is still one of my duties and since I don’t know who else would do it, I assume that I’ll handle it in the meantime.
Tomorrow I plan to get things done around the house. Angela came by yesterday and cleaned, but I still like to at least vacuum up all the dog hair every Saturday. One of the things I did last Saturday was launder Scooby and Betty’s blanket — you should have seen the lint trap! Ick. I also have an ambitious plan to wash the light fixtures (the glass fixture in the master bathroom has a bug in it and there’s another fixture elsewhere that is dusty). I had an ambitious plan to spot paint the inside of the house (wash the walls and go over spots where there were fingerprints), but Gene wants to buy high quality paint and start all over (if we just spot paint with the better paint, it’ll be obvious and look stupid). I know my husband and what he means is: he wants to hire someone to do it. I wholeheartedly support this notion, but with our twin icky days this week it’s probably not wise to go blow more money on stuff for the house. The fence was expensive enough and caused enough financial rigamarole.
So then our ambitious plan was to buy paving stone and make a really elegant area to put our garbage cans on (the fence guy built a little fenced section for this purpose). We went to Home Depot and found a book about this and as it turns out…it’s a long cumbersome process. I think we’re up to it. Furthermore, I think for the price of a plane ticket we could get my loving Mother to do it.
Hmm, now there’s an idea…
