Actually, mmm, meatloaf. Finally, I have a meatloaf recipe that doesn’t come out the consistency of pate’ (stupid Ann Landers meatloaf). It’s the first time I’ve cooked in a week or two. I have a full menu for this week (except for Thursday, I think, as it is Check Cutting Thursday and I usually just want to drink for dinner. Although I don’t!). Oh, and tomorrow, we’re supposed to go out because Gene (who is sick and is at Death’s Door in a very “IT’S JUST A FUCKING HEADCOLD” kind of way) asked for Thai food and the Thai restaurant is closed on Sundays. I also purchased our turkey for Thanksgiving (the grocery store had a special – $.39/lb through today)**. Since the in-laws are coming to town (ugh, WHY?) and are staying through Sunday (ugh, double WHY – can I not have a fucking four day weekend?), we’re doing the whole traditional meal. Turkey, stuffing (? – that’s Gene’s thing), mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole ala Blanche and something else. Gene asked my SIL to make something. Because I’m sure that’s her dream, to cook in someone else’s kitchen after a long ass drive with 2 under 19 months. Holy Moly, maybe she should just drink for dinner!
** Speaking of, if one plans to make a turkey in, say, 10 days, when should one start thawing it? Is now too soon? Please say it isn’t. Someone*** put the bird in the fridge.
