(Not mine. Gene’s).
He’s on a call right now (yes, 10 PM on a Sunday) and just asked if the computer that is down is doing anything at 10 PM on a Sunday. The person told him, “Well, it’s processing payroll.”
And then Gene did something that will NEVER happen where I work. He made the problem a priority one problem. Fucking A. Where I work, the payroll printer is out of commission for long print jobs (such as, oh, 1500+ paychecks) and has been for 3 weeks and no one seems to care.
(I have informed the following people of this problem: Old Boss, New Boss, New Boss’s Boss, the VP of Operations/New Boss’s Boss’s Archenemy, the IT ‘Director’, and the Chairman of the Fucking Company. Their reactions are, in order of how I listed them above: “Bummer”, “Something positive”, “Blahblahblah!”, “This is the first I’ve heard of it!”, “It’s the printer’s fault” (not the server, which is summertime slow and crashes frequently), and “Do we need a new one?”*).
*If given the opportunity, I am going to throw New Boss’s Boss under the bus again about this**. I was able to tell the Chairman due to a “Chance” meeting on check cutting day last time. If the problem isn’t fixed, I am going to make sure there’s another “Chance” meeting.
** And don’t cry for New Boss’s Boss. He had his fucking chance.
