BTW, while en route from Indianapolis yesterday I found another thing to appreciate about Detroit (besides my friend Julie): The Peanut Butter & Jelly restaurant at the airport. Really. I had a peanut butter and banana sandwich at the gate in Detroit. The specialty of the house was peanut butter and bacon on cinnamon raisin bread. No, thank you. But after I finished (most of) my sandwich, I wished I had ordered the peanut butter and apple or peanut butter and chocolate sandwich, which I think I would have really loved. Oh well. Next time I travel. Or – DUH – I could buy the stuff and make them myself.
Hmm. Just realized I spent $5 on a peanut butter and banana sandwich. Dangit.
Also while on the road, I discovered the joy of using my laptop at the airport. I was approximately 3 hours early for my flight from Indianapolis to Detroit so I definitely had some time to kill. Plus I’d already finished a lot of the reading material I’d brought with and I can’t stand to be bored. I didn’t bother paying for wireless internet (I’d already spent money to buy a slightly nicer coach class seat from Northwest…stupid, stupid upgrades!) but I was able to get some writing done. I missed my little tray for the laptop. I think the word “laptop” is only a figurative phrase anyway – whose lap fits this thing? Not mine and I am equipped with quite a lap.
(Hey, did I mention that we gave Macauley/Bill a check at Christmas with the Memo “Lap dance”? It was for our contribution to my SIL’s new lapTOP. Reports indicate that it was embarassing to cash it. Whoooops).
