As I mentioned yesterday, Scoobert (did you know that’s Scooby Doo’s real first name?) went to the vet’s for some blood work. Dr. Peterson called back just now — good news! It’s not liver, kidney or GI problems. Bad news! It could be a parasite. I’m going to pick up some medicine tomorrow that we get to mix in his food.
(What’s that, you say? Scooby’s a picky eater?) Yeah, this should be interesting.
And also of note – JULIE YOU WERE RIGHT! My friend Julie suggested to me that Bil-Jac wasn’t the food for us. Dr. Peterson says that Bil-Jac is too high in fat and that we should try “Science Diet, Iams, Eukanuba, Purina One or Beneful.” Julie recommended Science Diet, the vet recommends Beneful. I think we’re going to try Beneful first but Scooby’s never been on Science Diet so that’s next! We’re going to go back to mixing it with some wet food. We may try the wet food at the pet shop that has thing such as duck in it. I’ve never eaten duck and now my dog will.
Before I go finish making dinner, just let me say how glad I am that Scooby is OK. He is a total Mama’s dog and I love him so much. When my parents first dog named Max got sick, my mother told me that the only thing that could happen that would be worse would be if my brother or I got sick. I totally understand that level of feeling. Gene’s of the opinion that there is a finite amount of money you can spend on a dog’s welfare. He is wrong. If Scooby (or Betty) developed a chronic illness that was treatable, I would do anything to make the money to pay for it. I would work evenings at Target and overnights at a gas station. The chances of me having a human baby are twilighting (for personal reasons not of a health nature) so these dogs are my life.
