The boy’s room is a filthy pigsty. Yes, I know, all 13 year-olds rooms are pigstys (pigsties?), but I think his is remarkable because the room is pretty big and almost never used. How does it get so dirty? While I’m living the single life this week I’ve been working on bringing order to chaos, slowly. Yesterday I went through the clothes in his closet and dresser and weeded out the wayyyy too big and too small stuff.
Today, I dragged his desk downstairs to donate to Goodwill. It’s a plastic desk by Rubbermaid, a children’s computer desk. My vision was to replace it with a very simple TV stand for the TV, XBox, etc that has accumulated upstairs.
Well, good freaking luck finding anything like that! Even Target only has TV stands that are masquerading as classy furniture. I want a simple TV stand, not something where I have to actually work hard to put it together. Hmm. Maybe the furniture consignment store I consigned all our bedroom furniture to has what I want.
Anyway, the boy’s room is a little cleaner, a little emptier and the Cheesecake City Goodwill has a very cute kid’s desk now (I fit it in the back of the car all by myself, go me!). I hope to make more progress by the time he gets here this weekend, but the last I heard he may not be coming over this weekend (he has reinjured his leg or hip or something like that and can’t move around much).
