Christmas trees, that is….
Since we travel over the holiday, Gene and I haven’t put up our Christmas tree in a few years (I think since 2004, the year I decorated the outside of the house, too). The first year I didn’t decorate because I was sick the early part of December and now it’s just easy to say “Ehh, why bother? We’re going to be out of town.” I feel so bad about not putting up a tree – I have so many lovely ornaments (The LaineyD Penguin Ornament Collection) and they don’t see the light of day ever.
We bought the fake, prelit tree years ago and now, even if I was in town and wanted to decorate, I’d rather just buy a real one to avoid dragging the tree box down from the attic.
Real trees are easy that way (as long as you water them!) – drag them in the front door, decorate, celebrate, undecorate, drag back out the front door on garbage day. Done and done!
(Then again, stringing lights is a huuuge PITA….)
Fuggit. I’ll put the homemade wreath on the front door tomorrow. I keep it hanging on the inside of my home office door. The neighbors on both sides of us have now decorated (unsurprisingly, the neighbors from Brooklyn decorated a little LOUDER than the neighbors from Utah). Gene and I pulled into the cul-de-sac this evening and saw the finery (?) and I piped up – “Hey, let’s play a quick round of Guess Where the Atheists Live!”
