It’s criminal for someone who enjoys a weekend so much to not really get to do much. Today, I actually succeeded in getting Gene and the boy to go to the bakery without me. Really! And they brought home some delightful delicious baked goods, including a slice of chocolate cake that is all for me. I haven’t even eaten it yet. Seriously. Later, we saw the noon showing of The Incredibles. It was a very nice, very funny movie. I think Pixar really peaked with the Toy Story films, though. Nemo was very cute and the animation on The Incredibles is just…well, you know.
After that, we came home and I fed the puppies and cleaned (vacuumed in the living room, dining room and kitchen and mopped the kitchen). We had a nice relaxing dinner topped off with a glass of something called Fat Bastard Chardonnay for me. Mmm. Gene’s at poker now and the boy and I played one round of Simpsons Road Rage. I used to be able to play Road Rage for an hour or more but now my hands are too stiff to play more than one round (lasts maybe 20 minutes, and this time I had to break to let the hounds outside) and afterwards, my thumbs tremble.
Tomorrow: lunch with Blanche and Aunt Peggy (not to be confused with Real Betty Fake Aunt, Real Aunt Fake Betty, or Real Betty the Dog). We didn’t hear from EJ today (the boy left a message), so I’m assuming we’re on for the usual time tomorrow. Lots of snarky comments from Gene about the whole pouty thing.
And that’s enough of this 🙂 I’m going to go do some work on the book — I’m not happy with the last few pages so I’m going to reconcile it to the “Writing for Style (WFS)” Word document — that’s what I call it when I write something I really like that doesn’t work. It’s writing for style because worst case scenario maybe I learned something new about my characters. I currently have 2 Word WFS docs like this as well as an alternate version of Chap 7 where I tried to take the book on a totally different plane — didn’t work at all, but still it’s good writing and shouldn’t be wasted. If I were to just delete the pages I’d want them back sooner or later. Since my current output is exactly 100 words a month (that’s equal to 4 inches of news copy, don’t know about fiction), I really can’t spare any words at all.
