Soooo::yawn::oooo Tired

Posted on November 21, 2006 by laineyd

I was off work this afternoon and I grocery shopped (the second visit of infamy). Turns out I’m not really done – I still need celery root and creamer and beef short ribs. I also hit Target and Kohl’s for a chair cover for Gene’s old chair.  Like the title says, I am soooo–yawn–oooo tired.

Two grocery trips = good idea

Posted on November 18, 2006 by laineyd

My shopping list for Thanksgiving is two pages long. I did half the shopping today (the stuff for tonight’s dinner and non-perishable Thanksgiving food). Two trips was Gene’s idea, but it was a great one. My cart was freaking full. I seriously would have needed Gene to come with me and push his own cart…

is it Black Friday yet? ‘Cause I’m just about to pop with all of this Thanksgiving planning! We are hosting Thanksgiving for my in-laws again this year. Since I am married to famous chef Jean (ok, Gene), there has to be a menu and it has to be planned. Pshaw. Do you know how many…

Mmm, meatloaf…

Posted on November 12, 2006 by laineyd

Actually, mmm, meatloaf. Finally, I have a meatloaf recipe that doesn’t come out the consistency of pate’ (stupid Ann Landers meatloaf). It’s the first time I’ve cooked in a week or two. I have a full menu for this week (except for Thursday, I think, as it is Check Cutting Thursday and I usually just…

Mmm, fiber…

Posted on September 5, 2006 by laineyd

I am now officially an old person. I gnaw on two Fiber Choice (now with calcium!) pills daily. I guess next is a walker or a hearing aid. The Fiber Choice pills look a lot like giant smarties but, surprisingly, don’t taste like it. I seriously nibble on it because they are GIANT (nickel sized).*…

Wow. Anyway. Made dinner tonight. Sausage, gravy and biscuits from my mom’s recipe (I made her tell me how to make it. I’ve spoken to my mom 3 times in the last two days. I’m pretty certain she’s talked to me enough for awhile!). It turned out really yummy. I love making a menu and…

Yes, I know it’s 2 AM and a school night. (Only a half day tomorrow – woot!) Ooh, speaking of…I should check woot.com… ehh, only a watch. Anyway! It’s been quite a crappy night. I finally crashed from all the NO soda days and had a Pepsi with dinner (Shake n’ Bake pork chops, mashed…

Cookie sheet mania

Posted on August 14, 2006 by laineyd

Wilton’s big answer was: “Ehh, we’re sorry. Guess you’ll have to wash the cookie sheet. Loser.” I totally should have told them that I’m bitching about this to my entire huge readership. (Hi Mom! Hi Julie! Hi Brandy!). I also got an answer from one of the above named people saying basically the same thing…

Cooked again…

Posted on July 30, 2006 by laineyd

Tonight, I made this salmon dish for dinner. Gene wanted fish or chicken for dinner, and he found the recipe. Plus I got flustered at the grocery store today (I was doing a shh! secret shop and my regular shopping at the same time) and bought the salmon early. Whoops. Anyway, I give it 4 stars….

Did you know that haricots vert are GREEN BEANS?? Criminey. I’m at allrecipes.com, my second favorite place to find recipes (after the Naptime Gourmet) and they are advertising a Bastille Day menu. Humm, I say. I know a couple of chuckleheads who were MARRIED on Bastille Day (that would be Gene and I). One of the…
